LeBron James has a clutch of friends in the hip-hop community. But there’s one rapper who isn’t ready to drink the ‘Bron-flavored Kool-Aid: MGK (p/k/a Machine Gun Kelly).
MGK, a Cleveland native, has boldly predicted that King James will not lead Miami to the Promised Land this season. “Oh no, he’s not taking it,” MGK told Power 107.5. “If he doesn’t do it this year, then he won’t do it again.”
One diss doth not a naysayer make. But this isn’t the first time MGK has dissed LeBron for taking his talents to South Beach. The Bad Boy rapper also came out swinging against ‘Bron last year. In an interview with HipHopDx, MGK said of LeBron: “I don’t really like LeBron at all,” MGK said. “That guy’s a really poor example of a human being. We don’t really roll like that. We west boys stay true to [our] mothaf****n’ homes, and heroes don’t leave when they’re in need.”
Ah, so that’s what this is really about. MGK is still hung up on The Decision. Is that fair criticism or is it time to forgive and forget? Regardless of what MGK thinks, James and his Heat will face Kevin Durant and the Thunder in a wildly anticipated NBA Finals. It kicks off this Tuesday at 9 PM ET on ABC
